It’s been a long nine months since LeBron James put his home in Coconut Grove up for sale at an asking price of $17 million. While the number seems staggering, especially for Coconut Grove, it does have about 17,000 square feet of living space, 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths, the requisite infinity pool overlooking Biscayne Bay and dock space for not one, but 2 60 foot yachts. After a price chop down to $15 million, it’s finally moved on and the buyer is supposedly Timo Kipp the owner of The Mayfair right down the block.
There was a lot of speculation as to why it wasn’t selling, but lets cut to the chase and keep it simple, not a lot of people are tossing around north of $15 million for a house, much less The Grove is more of a residential family type place, it’s not where the showy mega wealthy keep their estates, it hardly has the name cachet of Palm Beach or any of the Islands of Miami Beach. Also, from all the photos flying around online, its a 17,000 square foot home without a whole heck of a lot of soul. That’s our opinion and our two cents.
