It seems that every year yet another classic Miami establishment bites the dust, we’ve written about Jimbo’s and everyone around town was heartbroken when Tabaco Road closed its doors in downtown Miami, now, say it isn’t so, but yes, Fox’s in South Miami is also on it’s way out in exchange for yet more development. Which is sad for oh so many reasons not least of which is:
1) Miami doesn’t need any more development, most of the condo units throughout the city are empty, since they’re owned by Latin American’s stashing their cash.
2) South Miami in particular and US 1, who wants to live there? It’s a highway!!! And most of the restaurants in the neighborhood aren’t exactly jumping with people all day long to make it worthwhile.
3) Lastly with the impending doom of climate change not too far off, hasn’t anybody figured out yet that living anywhere south of Orlando means you’re going to be under water in 20 years, but have permanent flooding in 5 to 10.
So it goes, in this best of all possible worlds. The days of a fine martini in a darkened corner of a hot nowhere will be passing in to oblivion come July 31st this year. Farewell Fox’s you will be missed.
