We can already hear some grumbling in the background just by the very fact that we’re making the claim, the Faena Arts District is already a new neighborhood in Miami Beach. To the best of our knowledge there is no technical definition of what makes a neighborhood, although generally speaking it might be considered a geographic area from which an individual might be able to reasonably walk and satisfy their day to day living needs, but that sort of definition breaks down rapidly when you consider larger suburban areas or on the flip side highly compacted urban areas. Either or. So we’re going to be what we believe to be the first to call it what it is – The Faena Arts District is its own neighborhood. The area between Collins Park and the Fountainb has kind of long been a dead zone, mostly condo’s and rental building, not a whole heck of a lot of to do, although very nice real estate indeed, but hardly a destination of any sort. As we’ve been tracking for the past year Allan Faena has been building his own “universe” of art, culture, lifestyle and has quite literally spared no expense. The development is hardly just a few buildings and quite a bit more than a “district”, when you start getting the type of press and publicity that he’s been getting, its pretty much safe to say its more than just a passing fancy, these blocks and buildings and everything around will be the infill of the dead zone and will breath in new life to the area, creating the community that defines what a neighborhood actually is and what it means to its residents.
