January is always a little slow on Miami, mostly because it’s post holiday season and people are still kind of getting their act back together, they’ve travelled for Thanksgiving, then probably Christmas and New Years and either have to go back to school themselves or have to make sure the kids get off and back to school while mom and dad settle back in to work. January is also usually the coolest month, so you’re not missing all of that much. Evenings can easily drop down into the 50’s and the day time can be upper 60’s.
On the plate of things to do, hit up the Art Deco Weekend on the beach, hasn’t really changed all that much in the years since they’ve started, but when was the last time you actually went on an Art Deco walk?
There’s also the Miami Antiques Show which is a blast and oddly a good opportunity to do a little shopping. If there’s one thing that Miami still tends to get right is the kookie furniture and other kitchy design stuffs that can be found at the show. It is worth attending if you happen to be in town.
