March by now is getting a little toasty, the coolest days of winter are past and pretty much every day, and evening is going to be perfect.. March in Miami is for music lovers, whether it’s the Calle Ocho Festival which takes over Little Havana, or Winter Music.
Winter Music Conference probably needs no big intro, it’s the dance music conference and festival that draws in DJs, dance music aficionados, producers, promoters from the world over. The main part of the conference is still on the beach, at the hotels and convention center. It is actually an industry conference for the music industry, think CES but for music.
Completely separate from the conference, although always running simultaneously is the Ultra MusicFest which takes place in Bay Front Park and runs for back to back weekends in the middle of March. What do you do when you have some of the best DJs and producers from around the world at the WMC, you throw a concert, and that’s what ULTRA is.
March also has the Sony Ericsson Open on Key Biscayne, a great tennis venue, not nearly as big as some of the super stadiums in other locals, which is good if you’re a tennis fan, a relatively inexpensive ticket will get you good seats on the main court. Much more friendly.
If thumping electronica dance music isn’t your thing there are still some other annual events to checkout – Miami Beach International Fashion Week, Jazz in The Gardens and ArteAmericas and Miami-Dade Heritage.
