As we had previously mentioned, and for anyone who attended in the past few year, Art Basel is no longer just a modest event in the Convention Center, it is now a full week plus of parties and events to satisfy the never ending hunger of publicity that Miami constantly craves. While we did a very poor partial listing of all the pre-event events throughout Miami Beach, Downtown Miami and Wynwood, the actual real kickoff off of the real Art Basel is now really just around the corner. The actual Art and Gallery show – ie. the main event is still at the Convention Center and will be opening its doors December 1st and running through the 4th. If you have a deep seeded desire for nostalgia, before everyone and their brother, and sister, and uncle, tried to jump on the art overload weekend, now week, then you should go and see where it all started. The entrance fee is $50 for an all day pass, which when you think about it, really isn’t all that bad if you consider that, some of the other events you can’t even get in to and at this point the SoBe Food and Wine Fest is pushing tickets for up to $300.
