We’ve occasionally griped about how South Beach has changed and lost most of it’s flavor and edginess, the jury on that is probably pretty well divided, between those who lament the old days and the others who welcome the taste and sophistication. While Soho House might be the pinnacle of the crass exclusivity that has driven the old timers off, the style within the property is a refreshing and pleasant departure from the usually terrible and antiseptic modern white décor that we all must endure. Both the bar and the patio at Cecconi’s are magical, warm and comforting, like the grand old gentlemans club pub that we may or may not remember or have wished for elsewhere.
If you haven’t been, which means you’re not a member then you probably need to dig up an invitation or join, or at least get yourself over there. An afternoon or evening outside is a welcome respite from South Beach, even if it is still Very South Beach.
