It’s been a little bit more than about six months or so since the annual Dress For Success Miami Gala last year which was in support of honoring our veterans, specifically, veterans here in South Florida. In those months they’ve been putting together a new program that they have called Vets For Success. The program takes the general Dress For Success / Suited For Success model and tailors it to Veterans and their families to provide educational and vocational opportunities and life skills training. Yesterday was the official announcement that was made at Miami City Hall with Mayor Tomas Regalado. Not a big show or anything like that, just a small presentation and press conference really.
It’s always amazing to see programs like this get off the ground. Regardless of what you might think of the politics, we must always support our troops, especially when they come home. It’s also amazing when you get such a great organization like DFS Miami, who has been in the community for so long, putting their efforts in to new programs and reaching out to new groups of underserved individuals in the community.
Wishing them all the best for this year.
Vets for Success is supported by Walmart, the Norman Braman Philanthropic Fund, Capital One, Judith and Norman Fields Family Fund, Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, Ocean Bank, TD Charitable Foundation, AmTrust Bank, and Publix Super Market Charities.
